On December 14, 2014 first Pendolino trains (Express Intercity Premium, EIP) started their journey on Polish railway lines together with the launch of new annual timetable.
These comfortable trains commenced their regular operation connecting North with South of Poland and running amongst tri-city (Gdynia, Sopot, Gdansk), Warsaw, Katowice, and Wroclaw, providing passengers with a very attractive travel time.
“This year we can offer passengers the shortest in history train travel time between major agglomerations in Poland. This is a result of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.’s unprecedented investments” - says Remigiusz Paszkiewicz, President of the PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.’s Management Board.
By reducing the travel time between major cities, PKP can successfully compete with other means of transport such as cars, buses, and airplanes.
In order to endure EIP trains are affordable for all customers – dynamic ticket pricing has been introduced . In addition statutory discount apply, which means that some passengers can travel even cheaper.
Poland is the first country in CEE, where trains reached the speed of 200 km/h.
